Fred K. Hoehler papers, 1917-1965.

Hoehler's papers are from his time with the APWA and the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration. The papers also describe his work with the Chicago Community Fund, the Citizens of Greater Chicago, the International Conference of Social Work, the National Citizens Council for Public Schools, the New World Foundation, mental health associations, and a variety of federal advisory committees. The collection contains exensive correspondence with Adlai Stevenson and Richard Daley, with whom Hoehler worked closely, and many prominent national welfare leaders.

Hoehler, Fred K. (Fred Kenneth), 1893-1969

Hoehler was a public welfare administrator at both the local and state levels, in Cincinnati and Illinois, respectively. He also served as director of the American Public Welfare Association. Hoehler headed the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitiation Administration Division of Displaced Persons during World War II and later served as special consultant to the mayor of Chicago.
